Love?

Beloved Brothers and Sisters,

The other day I was thinking about what it really means to be “in love” with a man. We need examples of Black love in our community.  Black love is revolutionary!  It is a privilege and honor to be part of nation building in that way.

There was a time when I thought I knew what it meant to be in love. I would have rattled off information that had some measure of truth but did not solely reflect the African culture and values that I gladly embrace today.

A few days ago I released the question into the atmosphere; What does it mean to be love? Today I received my answer according to African culture and values.

My authentic truth:

The divine in me recognizes the divine in a man. The love that I have for the divine in me, recognizes the love for the divine that the man has in him. So, love– loves love. That’s what bring two people together. Being attracted merely to the physicality of another and ultimately becoming attached to those physical aspects leads to catastrophe at one level or another. May my truth bring light to you.

In peace and light,

Dr. Free
