Does “it” Serve You Anymore?

As we approach the dawning of a new year it’s a fabulous idea to do self inventory. It is a great time to take as much time as is needed to thoroughly examine ourselves. For many 2017 will be a time for new beginnings and fresh starts! Join me. You can make an agreement with yourself that if “it” no longer serves you–you are leaving it in 2016! What is your it?  Maybe your “it’ is an idea, habit, a belief systems, relationship, significant other,  mindsets, old clothes or even a sofa. Not all people, places and things are meant to stay! Go ahead and free yourself.iyanla-vanzant-courage-to-let-go

As I plan to take a look in my closet of life and do a little house cleaning, I want to encourage you to do the same. If “it” does not serve me, meaning help me to fulfill my personal mission and vision for my life, I resolve to cheerfully let it go. However, releasing with the right attitude is very important. An improper attitude could mean repeating an “experience” because the intended lesson wasn’t truly learned. There should be no regret, heartache, anger or bitterness when you let “it” go. When I let my “its” go I will release them with love, light, and heart of gratefulness. Although I no longer need “it” I have learned many lessons because of its presence. “It” may have brought unanticipated contrast, been a catalyst, or even served as a reflection to reveal to you your true self. Not matter how painful or uncomfortable “it” may have made us if “it” caused us to grow and learn something new–it was all worth it. We are spiritual beings here to expand and evolve. Oftentimes the greatest struggles provide the greatest measures of growth when we allow. There have been many difficulties in my life. At times it has seemed like my path went directly from one trouble to the next. Nonetheless, I know for sure that each difficulty has made me better. I am stronger, wiser, and much more insightful and for that I am truly thankful.

In peace and love,

Dr. Free
