Who am I?

I am Light…

I am not the things my family did
I am not the voices in my head
I am not the pieces of the brokenness inside

I am Light…..
I am not the mistakes I have made
or any of the things that caused me pain
I am not the pieces of the dream I left behind

I am Light….
I am not the color of my eyes
I am not the skin on the outside
I am not the my age
I am not the my race
my soul inside is all light…

I am Light…
I am divinity defined
I am the god on the inside

I am a star a piece of it all

I am Light

By India Arie
I am a fan of no one but I often listen to India Arie’s music because it is authentic. Her music seems to come from a deep place within her soul. As you know, if you’ve been following me for a while, I always say authentic people are often drawn to each other. I am drawn to her music. It resonates with my soul. I have been listening to this song a lot lately. I don’t necessarily agree with all the lyrics for my life but I appreciate their origin and I celebrate the spirit in which the lyrics are expressed. As I listened, I thought about how important it is to know who you are. When a person does not know who they are they shift like the wind, are troubled by those who disagree with their particular ideological positions, and aimlessly try to satisfy the opinions of others at their own expense.

My African ancestors first knew and taught the significance of knowledge of self. The winged disc (as posted at the top of the page) above the entrance to the temples in ancient Kemet (Egypt) predates Greek scholars usually credited by thousands of years. Still today, knowledge of self must be our first priority. What are your strengths, weaknesses, and passions? Are you spirit? Do you have a soul? Who are you? India declared her proclamation of identity. What is your proclamation? Who are you?

In peace and love,

Dr. Free

Authentic thoughts are thoughts that are genuine and sincerely expressed. Authentic thoughts reverberate with other authentic individuals so they have an irresistible urge to ponder and or respectfully respond from their own unique perspective.
